About

NSW NBN Coordinator

The NSW NBN Coordinator function was established in November 2010.

Its primary role is to act on behalf of the NSW Government in negotiations with NBN Co for access to assets such as power poles, microwave towers and road, rail and river bridges.

This legislation enables a whole of NSW Government response in these negotiations with NBN Co, in light of its powers and immunities under the Commonwealth Telecommunications Act 1997, of commercially acceptable terms for access to NSW Government assets.

The NBN Coordinator role is currently with the Director General of the Department of Finance and Services.

The Coordinator’s powers and functions are set out in the National Broadband Network Co-ordinator Act 2010.

The Coordinator will remain in place until the NBN is built and operational.

Chief Executives Committee

A Government Chief Executives Committee provides advice on the exercise of the Coordinator’s functions.

It includes representatives of the departments of Finance and Services, and Premier and Cabinet, as well as Trade and Investment; Transport and The Treasury.
